Thought Crimes: The Art of Subversion sheds light on the role of the artist in the realm of social activism. The exhibition looks at the work of artists motivated by the belief that art has a fundamental, radical and ethical role to play in society and that art possesses the power to incite social change. Guided by progressive social theories and using subversive tactics - culture jamming, web hacking and public interventions - these artists negotiate the terrain between artist, activist and criminal with varied results. By creating work intended to undermine many of the power structures that form the basis of modern culture, artists in the exhibition force us to examine the wisdom of traditionally held beliefs and the role of art in transforming those beliefs.

Artists include: Aerosol Warfare, Stephen Andrews, Jim Costanzo, Gregory Green, Michael Hernandez de Luna, I Love You Baby, Alison Jackson, Patrick Lichty, Arnold Mesches, Neistat Brothers, Trevor Paglen, Preemptive Media, subRosa, The Yes Men, Joe Wezorek.
